Yes, all these bands are pretty much 70s/80s. I was raised listening to their music and fell in love with them.
Otis B. Driftwood: It's all right, that's in every contract. That's what they call a sanity clause.
Fiorello: You can't fool me! There ain't no Sanity Claus!

Smashing Pumpkins
Nine Inch Nails

Really hard to choose a top five though. There are other bands I love who don't have so many albums, I think it's the extent of their back catalogues that makes these five win. Then again, Radiohead could well be on there too and they have a lot of albums. And Pink Floyd., stick with the five I said.

1. Billy Joel
2. The Beatles
3. Queen
4. Paul Simon (or Simon & Garfunkel)
5. Elton John

Those are probably my top five of all time, since they're the ones that have affected/shaped me the most. I just realized, none of them except Billy Joel I listen to on a daily basis anymore (and not even him sometimes), but they're still really important to me! :)

Hmm, if you're talking bands, my favourites are (no particular order):

- Coldplay: who doesn't love them! :P My favourite song from them is Fix You.

- Yeah Yeah Yeahs: Karen O is amazing!

- Soil & Pimp Sessions: jazz band from Japan. Their style is progressive jazz and they can blow you out of your mind. More hardcore than metal bands!

- Locksley: Rock & roll!

- Sondre Lerche & The Faces Down: "Can we dance, instead of walking?" <3

- Green Day: I looove them and I don't care what anyone says about them. >>
- The Foo Fighters: <3
- The Fratellis: Their songs just... make me smile. Lots. Awesome, awesome band that is really underrated.
- KISS: they are made of win. The end.
- Nightwish: back when they were with Tarja. Mmhm.

Linkin Park, and Weezer are close behind. I love too many bands that it's really hard to choose a top five.

Vampire Weekend
The Bravery
Maroon 5
Ra Ra Riot

For the record, it was really hard to pick. I also love Franz Ferdinand, The Strokes, The Killers, and a ton of other bands but I guess those are the 5 I listen to most.
