I'd recommand these:

The Rasmus

They're all great bands mostly Finnish (except from Rammstein -they're from Germany), and HIM's new album was released last Tuesday, it's called Venus Doom. The Rasmus (my fave band ever) are recording right now, and the new album will be out around March, it's called Black Rose

Christine McTague wrote:QUOTE (Christine McTague @ Jun 4 2005, 05:57 PM) Ah... I have so many I could recommend... I dont know where to begin!
Lets start with those in English though...
The Dresden Dolls are just terrific... They are genuinely artistic and are GREAT live. I should know, I just went to their concert /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />. Coin Operated Boy and Half Jack are brilliant.
If you like Gothic Techno stuff then VNV Nation is probably a great find, as well as Epsilon Minus. Keeping with the "Gothic" trend I recommend Sisters of Mercy, Souxsie and the Banshees, and The Cure. And Dead Can Dance are great too.
I recommend Rascal Flats for country fans, and of course Johnny Cash.
Harry Connick Jr is terrific. He's got a big band sound, but he's very contemporary. His voice is so velvetty... He's like those old 30's crooners.
Next is the Japanese stuff...
Malice Mizer are great! And they have a great musical range... In one cd you'll find a strange almost reggae song, an eerie classical piece, and hard angry guitars. And of course you must see their costumes... But this is an old band and they broke up long ago.
The lead singer went solo and I also recommend him if your looking for somethng somewhat lighter. Gackt has his own style, and its slightly pop-ish, but he also has enough hard rock hits to satisfy me. Check out the Moon album.
The lead guitarist, Mana, went a different way though. His band, Moi Dix Moi, is definetely not for the faint of heart. They are totally hard rock. Don't let your grandmothers hear you listening to this. Check out the Nocturnal Opera album.
L'Arc~un~Ciel are good too, but I'm not as big of a fan of them as I am the ones above. They were big indie rockers in Japan for a while.
Pierrot is kinda like Marylin Manson with a less techno sound... Its hard to describe. They're great though, if you're getting tired of the classical sounding stuff.
If I think of more I'll edit this and add them. I can never think of a lot off the bat heh... I always think of some much later.

i like gackt and pierrot. never realyy got into Malice Mizer though. VNV nation aren't bad. =)

panic at the disco--awesome if you're into emo.

Wow! There are a lot of really good recomendations!

Hm... I have a great number of bands I would like to indicate (I'm totally addicted. Alaways I hear something new I run to know more about the band or listen to other musics), but I think the most important ones are:

In Brazil there are a lot of good bands, I guess Los Hermanos and Legião Urbana are the best (atention! for you who think that Brazil just has samba, you'll be very surprised with the sound of these two bands. It's nothing about the Carnival music, but a kind of light rock). Two others in the same style are O Teatro Mágico and Mombojó.
For you who want, the musics I like the most of them are "Sentimental" (Los Hermanos), "Vamos fazer um filme" (Legião Urbana), "A Fé Solúvel" (O Teatro Mágico) e "Homem-espuma" (Mombojó).

Now... bands of other places.
I like very much Звери (Zveri), a Russian band. My favorite music is the one I heard first: "Просто такая сильная любовь" (something like "Prosto Takaya Silnaya Lyubov").
Veto is a band which makes a sound quite different. I recomend "You're a knife" of them.
One artist I listen everytime is Yann Tiersen (the guy who composed the Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain and Goodbye, Lenin! soundtracks).
Others simply fantastic... Sufjan Stevens, Stereophonics, Regina Spektor, Rilo Kiley and Divokej Bill.

okay hailey has some more. i'll second Lily Allen if you're in need of a girl who is strong and not afraid to say ANYTHING. especially if you just got dumped and you're really mad about it.

but here's what i came to really recommend. Shiny Toy Guns. They're absolutely AMAZING.... they're kind of rock... but they're like an electronic rock... and well, you just have to go check them out for yourselves, but I absolutely love them. They're one of my favorite bands now.

There's so many bands I'd like to recommend, but I think if I name only one chances are that you really give them a listen. So my recommendation to everyone are

The Libertines

Great British band, many know them (and everybody knows Pete Doherty) but don't have a clue what their music is like.

I recommend The Wrong Trousers. They're from California and just released a CD (only available online) and have got a really unique sound - their three main instruments are the harp, mandolin, and upright bass.

I've been really into J-rock (Japanese Rock) lately. I love the band Maximum the Hormone, a Japanese metal band. Their lyrics are fun and witty, though, and not at all scary or intimidating to those who are not familiar with heavy metal. They became more well known after their song What's up People?? became the opening theme for the popular Japanes anime, Death Note.

Another band that is really great and has also sung themes for animes is Asian Kung-Fu Generation.

I'm also a My Chemical Romance fan and a Dresden Dolls fan. The Dresden Dolls are really unique and playful. I love them!

Oh yeah, and some of these bands may have inappropriate lyrics. This is a warning if you want to check them out.
And power-hungry Slytherin
loved those of great ambition.
