Week Five – New Zealand

Post by Maxim Trevelyan » Mon Jul 30, 2018 2:03 pm

Welcome to the lush and mountainous collection of islands known as New Zealand. The country is made up of the two main land masses, North (Te Ika-a-Māui) and South Island (Te Waipounamu), plus about 600 smaller islands in the vicinity.

We will be starting our tour with a chance to kick back and relax at a Quidditch game on the volcanic island of Moutohora, home of the Moutohora Macaws (look out for their Quidditch mascot, Sparky the Phoenix). Next, we will be heading off on a boat ride through the caves at Witoma to encounter some more sparky individuals: the glow-worms only native to New Zealand. Finally, we will be rounding off the trip with a whistle stop apparition tour of the Waikato Region, Mount Tarinaki and Aoraki (also known as Mount Cook, the highest mountain in New Zealand). See if you can recognize which blockbuster movie was filmed in which location – New Zealand’s idyllic and unspoiled landscapes make it ideal for directors looking to do some major location shooting.

Below you will find a double puzzle! It features scrambled titles of movies or TV shows that were either primarily filmed or set in New Zealand, made by New Zealand directors or one of its major roles was played by a New Zealander. Once you unscramble the words, copy the letters in the numbered cells to other cells with the same number.

Click here for a bigger puzzle! (It will work best if you download it and solve it in a program, such as Paint.)

Solve the double puzzle and send the solution to me over HOL Forum message (Subject: BrtW – New Zealand) by September 2nd 11:59 pm HOL time for 25 Hoots and 10 beans.
