Rules Post

*All matches will be played in #snitch.

*Try to show up a few minutes early so we will be prepared to start on time. A player who doesn't show up within 15 minutes of the game start time forfeits the match.

*If you know you can't make a scheduled match, please post in the reschedule thread (which will come online when the schedule is posted) as soon as possible. You do not need to have a new time picked in order to post, simply say that you can't make the original time. If you post at least 48 hours before the start of the scheduled match, you are guaranteed a reschedule! Matches can be rescheduled to any time or date, provided that there is a referee available.

*The time limit is 90 minutes, the same time limit used in regular season games. If the snitch hasn't been caught within 90 minutes after the start of the game, it will be counted as a draw. (If the players and ref are still available, unofficial play may continue, but regardless of whoever may catch the snitch, it's still counted as a draw.)

The standings are looking incredibly exciting as the round robin phase of the tournament approaches its end!

In case you were wondering what we will do in case of ties, the procedure (also stated in the schedule post) is below:

For a tie between two people, head-to-head records will be used.
For a tie between three people (or when the head-to-head is a tie), all three people will be set the same logic puzzle and seeding will be determined based on fastest solve time.

This is the same tiebreaker rule that has been used in the last two Snitch tournaments, though this is likely to be the first tournament where the logic puzzles are actually used!

Now that there are multiple ties in seeding, it's time to say a few words about how the logic puzzle tiebreaker works!

-The people involved in the tiebreaker will find a mutually agreeable time to meet.
-At that time, they will all go into #snitch and a referee (or a QB member) will meet them there.
-The referee will give the introduction for a logic puzzle (identical format to Snitch match puzzles) and then release the clues for the puzzle into #snitch.
-The tiebreaker contestants will submit their solutions to the referee/QB member via P2P.
-If someone gets the puzzle wrong, they are welcome to resubmit at any time, but 17 minutes (the standard Snitch penalty) will be added to their time. For example, someone who submits an incorrect solution at 3 minutes 20 seconds and then a correct solution at 4 minutes 15 seconds will have their total time recorded as 21 minutes 15 seconds.
-The tie in the standings will be broken by solve time for the puzzle! (Whoever has the fastest time 'wins' the tiebreaker, whoever has the second fastest time comes in second, and so on down the line.)
-After everyone has either solved the puzzle or conceded, the ref will announce the standings.
