Task Four: Bodies of Water

Postby Prof. Kyrie Adderholt » Tue Jan 23, 2018 11:00 am

Got those life boats ready?! Task four theme: Bodies of Water!

Below you will find four tasks that are to be completed. Each task is assigned to a member of your crew. ONLY the person to whom the task is assigned can submit the team's answer for that task, even if the team works together to solve it.

If you have a crew member who just isn't around this week, you can declare them "sea sick" in the appropriate area of your forum. We will then tell you which crew member may fill in for them.

If you have a crew member who has completely disappeared, you can declare them "lost at sea" in the appropriate area of your forum. They will not be able to return in future tasks. Each task, we will assign another crew member to cover for them.

Captain Task

Solve the following jigsaw puzzle. Take a screenshot of the finished puzzle that shows the URL! We will not accept it without the URL!

Commander Task

Write your own sea shanty! Minimum of 15 lines!

Rear Admiral Task
One of the toughest things you'll have to do on a ship is navigate through the waters! Starting in the top left corner with the red arrow, follow the arrows on the shortest path to the star in the bottom right. Oh, there are a few rules of course....

1. You cannot use the same arrow more than once (though you can cross over it).
2. The arrows must also be in a pattern, Red-Yellow-Blue-Green.
3. From each arrow you can only move to one of the arrows it's pointing to in the same row, column, or diagonal.

Lieutenant Task

These tasks are due by 11:59 pm HOL time on January 25. Failure to submit a task will result in the total possible time being added to the team overall time.

All tasks must be emailed to holbattleship[at]gmail.com

REMEMBER: INCOMPLETE ANSWERS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!

If you declare a member "sea sick" this round, this will be their replacement:
Captain = Rear Admiral (and vice versa)
Lieutenant = Commander (and vice versa)

If you need to declare more than two members "sea sick" and they were supposed to replace each other, then please contact an organizer.

An easier jigsaw option for those who would like it, with a 3 hour time penalty:

Your screenshot of the finished puzzle must show the entire screen, including the URL and "holbatleship 300" at the bottom.
