Harry Potter crafts and DIYs

Postby Gail Allen » Sat Oct 14, 2017 7:46 pm

Did you ever make any Harry Potter crafts or DIYs? Or were there any that you wanted to try, but never did?

I once made one: a board for my wall with pegs to hang keys on with the word alohomora written across the top. That hangs in my hall now and it makes me smile to see it every time I come home to hang up my keys and every morning when I go out. I love being reminded of this magical world in these little moments.

I've also made school pencils into wands with hot glue and some paint. It made taking notes in class a little more fun when you could take notes with a wand.

So now I'm curious if anyone else did something similar or have projects they'd like to try some day.

Yes! I'm learning to knit and have a book which has different patterns in it, from very easy to very difficult.

They have things in there from socks

to more 'challenging' projects -- here's a picture of the Weasley clock........

As for me, I've done a hat from in there, and used a pattern in it for a scarf!

I've painted a small thing of one of my favorite Dumbledore quotes (regardless that it was movie only): "Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if only one remembers to turn on the light."

It was really fun and one of my first times using watercolors in a while! I also really enjoy calligraphy so I've practiced writing out a few quotes every now and then. It's quite relaxing ^_^
