The Fellowship of the Ring: October Book Discussion

Post by Prof. Tarma Amelia Black » Sun Oct 01, 2017 3:02 am

In October, we find ourselves traveling to Middle Earth, reading The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien.

Image shows the nine individuals of the fellowship (and the pony Bill), walking on a grassy hillock, and silhouetted against mountains far in the background.

As usual, we have a possible guideline for reading The Fellowship of the Ring below -- but it's a guideline only. Read (and enjoy) at your own pace and post when you have finished a certain section.

1-7 October: Prologue — Chapter IV: A Short Cut to Mushrooms
8-14 October: Chapter V: A Conspiracy Unmasked — Chapter XII: Flight to the Ford
15-21 October: Book Two, Chapter I: Many Meetings — Chapter V: The Bridge of Khazad-dum
22-31 October: Chapter VI: Lothlorien — Chapter X: The Breaking of the Fellowship

Have you read The Fellowship of the Ring before? Or is this your first time reading it? Have you seen the movie and not read the book yet? This might be quite interesting for you, if that is the case!

If inspiration strikes you, please feel free to share some of your own fan fiction, poetry, stories or fan art.
