HOL Time has already fallen back an hour for the winter so make sure you're doing things by the correct deadline until your country catches up! (You can always check the HOL time on the main HOL page in the top right hand corner!)
November brings us halfway through the fall term, and here are our current standings:
Now remember, we're only halfway through so its still anyone's guess as to who'll get first! (Keep turning in those homeworks guys!)
As always, the new month brings new puzzles in our Monthly Challenges and activities in the Creative Outlet sections of the HOLLERS Forum! But don't forget the First O' September activities are still going on!
November is the "resting" month for everyone to catch up on things they've missed while being busy with Halloween, and get a head start before the Winter Holidays pick up, but there are somethings going around!
Ravenclaw's common room is temporarily down, but I'm sure it'll be up soon! Ravenclaw is hosting their annual Blue and Bronze Olympics (sorry Lions, it's Ravenclaws only!) The theme this year is Foreign Magic Schools.
Other members of HOL though can check out the newly revamped Art Department and keep on eye out for new projects! You can also join in their debate club!
Gryffindor just finished up Gryfftoberfest, but the staff is working hard on getting their next issue of the PAWPRINT out so keep your eyes peeled for that! You can always stop by Peeve's Place in their common room for some fun games!
Hufflepuff is running a new activity based on Harry Potter: A Journey Through a History of Magic for all of HOL, and you don't have to have the book to participate! The house newspaper, The Wizarding Times just had their deadline so a new issue should be out soon! And as always, stop by the Department of Hufflepuff Games and Sports for some hard challenges and the chance to win some shiny diamonds (the Hufflepuff House points system)!
Slytherin just finished up Slythoween and now they're getting vamped up for Slythmas! While you wait for that, why not stop by the Puzzle Exchange? This month they're focusing on Cryptograms.
You can also join in with our read-a-long; we're working our way through book 4 and it's a great way to earn scales (Slytherin's house points system.) Don't forget to start thinking of submissions for the next Serpentimes, due January 15!
News From Around HOL
November means Quidditch is starting up! There's still time to get in some practice at the pickup games (one of which is later today Thursday, November 2 at 3:30 AM HOL Time! (11:30 PM Eastern, 10:30 PM Central, 9:30 PM Mountain, and 8:30 PM Pacific))
This month, the Book Club is reading Matilda by Roald Dahl. If you were lucky enough to make the sign-up deadline, The Hogsmeade Literary Festival is going on! Plus, you can still sign up for their year-long activity, Book Bingo! As always, you can still read (and write!) book reviews and discussions in the various other section of the Book Club!
