The Princess Bride - May Book Discussion

Postby Prof. Tarma Amelia Black » Mon May 01, 2017 4:48 am

We survived Hunger Games. The odds were in our favour .... Then we journeyed into a world of magic and imagination, dangerous and mysteries, with Inkheart. Now enter into a realm where true love is not only possible but there is someone in it whose name continually messes up me remembering Inigo Imago's name ...

Yes! In May we are reading The Princess Bride - S. Morgenstern's Classic Tale of True Love and High Adventure - The 'good parts' version - Abridged by William Goldman - by William Goldman. A possible guideline for reading The Princess Bride is below -- but it's a guideline only. Read it at your own pace and post when you have finished a certain section.

1-7 May: Introduction & Chapter 1
8-14 May: Chapters 2 - 5
15-21 May: Chapter 6
22- 30 May: Chapters 7 - 8

Have you read The Princess Bride already? Have you seen the movie and wonder if the book is similar? (You are forewarned - it is but it isn't.)

The Princess Bride has such a huge following. Both the book and the movie have been read and watched by literally generations of the same family. Why is this? Does it, will it appeal to you? Try it and see!

What do you like? In addition to posting in the Chapter places, show us in fan fiction, poetry, stories or fan art.

You might have some ideas for future book discussions by now. Tell us! Send us an email at hol.bookclub @ gmail.com (with the spaces removed). Be sure to include your name and HOL ID in the email.
