Personality: In Character vs Out of Character

Postby Will Lestrange » Sat Mar 03, 2018 5:52 pm

As part of the fascinating class "Career Advice: Planning Your Future", I had the opportunity to take a MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) test in character. I had taken this test many times out of character and knew what I would get: ENTJ (extraverted, intuitive, tough/thinking, judging) but near the border between extraverted and introverted. In character I got the same 4-letter description of ENTJ, but instead of being barely extraverted, my "E" turned out to be by far my strongest trait on the inventory! This actually makes sense for the difference between my character and myself: my character is a younger, brasher, and idealized version of my out-of-character personality.

With that in mind, how does your personality change when going 'in character' here?
