February Workshop - Aurelia

Postby Aurelia West » Fri Feb 24, 2017 4:27 am

This is one of the poems I wrote for the first assignment. It's a little short, and it was difficult to get the need to rhyme out of my head, but here it is.

The Rose and Fall
A petal fell upon the sand
And once it rose, it could not stand
A stem bent underneath the tide
That only life on Earth could be

A reason not lends no excuse
Though brains find many thoughts to choose
Like flies the worries won’t subside
They make the heart sail out to sea

Aure! The poem is well written and it is overflowing with imageries. The sound of the poem is refreshing. The terms used are pleasant to the ears. You used rhymes, even rhymes used in two different stanzas, portraying the whole poem as one stanza. It united the poem more.

As for the meaning, it is very meaningful. Reading the poem made me wonder the true meaning behind the words used. A simile is used, as well as metaphors and personifications. I personally liked how a certain underlying message is portrayed by the personified objects in the poem. The personification method is wisely used. The poem also made use of imagery that is easily imagined by the reader. Job well done, Aure! Congratulations!
