Week 4 - "Well, you're not wrong..."

Post by Matilde Rayne » Sun Sep 20, 2015 1:35 am

There's no denying that Swivenhodge is a little funny, even by wizarding standards. Then again, each element of the game technically works, and the structure of the game isn't unusual at all. Flying backwards is still flying, and I suppose hitting an inflated pig's bladder isn't that much different from hitting a ball back and forth.

For this week's forum activity, we thought we'd apply the logic of Swivenhodge to the same trivia questions we use for HOL Quidditch - that is, this week, we'd like everyone to come up with and share some trivia answers that are technically correct, but far more amusing than the real thing.

We're looking for joke answers with different wordings, or even answers that "take advantage" of the 1lr rule (in which you can miss or add one letter, or switch two adjacent letters around and still be correct).

When you post, please include the question you're thinking of, what the correct answer is, and what funny answer you've come up with! And as a reminder, since it will be easy to stray from this, be sure keep all posts/answers HOL appropriate!

Below, we're offering a few examples of the kinds of answers we're looking for. You're welcome to come up with your own "improved" answers for any of these questions. Of course, if you can think of any other questions/answers to play off of - maybe ones that you've seen during a Quidditch match or while botting - we encourage you to post those, as well! (We also encourage you to bot some more as inspiration. :D)

What we're looking for:

How many times had Neville Longbottom been on a broomstick before his first flying class?
Not enough (correct answer = none/0)

What game did Fred, George and Ginny play while Celestina Warbeck was singing 'A cauldron full of hot, strong love' during Christmas in book 6?
Exploding Snape (correct answer = exploding snap)

What is Gubraithian fire?
The wizarding answer to trick candles (correct answer = everlasting fire)

What happened to Dudley's tortoise?
It got a bird's eye view of his neighborhood (correct answer = he threw it through the greenhouse roof)

What did Harry give Ron for Christmas in GoF?
Chudley Cannons Cat (correct answer = chudley cannons hat/cap)

A few more questions (and their answers) to consider:

What did Parvati Patil have at the end of her plait when they were about to welcome the other schools (which McGonagall made her remove)?
(correct answer = a large ornamental butterfly)

Who told Ron that on no account whatsoever was he to take part in an illegal secret Defense Against the Dark Arts group?
(correct answer = Molly Weasley)

The predecessor to the muggle minister in book 6 tried to do what to Fudge after Fudge explained about the wizarding world?
(correct answer = throw him out the window)
