Week 3 - Aingingein

Postby Prof. Arielle Lemoyne » Tue Sep 15, 2015 1:00 am

In case you didn't get hit with enough boulders last week, this week we're sending you through flaming barrels. Week three's event is Aingingein! Winning Aingingein requires a player to complete a set of tasks - flying through burning barrels carrying the dom to the goal - in the shortest amount of time possible. On our IRC adaptation, instead of flying through barrels, participants must complete a round of 20 botting questions as quickly as possible. The questions used in this game are all short, quick to type, relatively easy to learn, and have unambiguous answers.

As usual, we'll start with a short warmup round for everyone, and then each player will get their shot at a 20 question time trial! The players with the fastest time win! Following the individual time trials, we'll have a final group round (or two) where you'll go head to head with the other players and try to make it through more barrels answer more questions than them!

If you need any help getting on IRC, feel free to send Arielle or Mattie a message and we'd be happy to help you get you started!

As with last week, all participants will receive beans from this week's sponsors. If you're interested in sponsoring this week, please send a message to Arielle and/or Mattie, letting us know the name you would like to donate in and the number of beans you want to contribute for the week!

The dates for Aingingein are:

1. Saturday September 19 at 2 am HOL time / Friday September 18 at 9 pm EST
2. Saturday September 19 at 9 pm HOL time / Saturday September 19 at 4 pm EST

If you are interested in playing, sign up below! Please include whether you expect to come for Match 1, Match 2, or both!

Only match 2 for me this time!

How is "catching fire" interpreted? Does that mean that if you mistype an answer you're disqualified for the round?

I'll try to make both. I'm however more sure of the first one than the second one.

Our week 3 event, Aingingein, has come to a close..

Congratulations to each of our competitors: Cody Lewis, Scarlet Leslie-Lewis, Tarma Black, Allyson Celestra, Thomas Lewis, Ivelisse Ada, Keith Mauldin, Kathren Johnsen, Bull J. Johnson, Ashley Margaret, Darcey Goode, Will Lestrange, Maxim Trevelyn, and Kim Alting!

Thanks to our sponsors, each player has received 350 beans!

We started each event with individual time trials, giving each player a chance to show how quickly they could make it through the course of flaming barrles qset. Our 2am winner was Prof. Cody Lewis, with a time of 1:00, and our 9pm winner was Ashley Margaret, with a time of 1:18!

To end the event, we had several rounds where players battled it out on the aingingein course. Our winners at the 2am match were Kathren Johnsun, Prof. Tarma Black, and Prof. Cody Lewis! Then, at the next match, we had two challenge rounds, won by Maxim Trevelyn and Darcey Goode!

We were amazed by everyone's speed (as was irc >>) and confidence in the solo time trials round! Well done to all of the participants!

Once again, we'd like to show our appreciation for this week's sponsors:
Niniel Sanders
Allyson Celestra
The League of Upstanding Clauricorn Kin (L.U.C.K.)
Sports Possessing Overly Obnoxious Names Syndicate (S.P.O.O.N.S.) - Bringing you Aingingein and Creaothceann since 1484.
Za'Lord's Guard - Pizza or Death; Holyhead Harpies; Puddlemere United
The Wizarding Times

By random number generator, the winner of the sponsorship drawing is…Prof. Scarlet Leslie-Lewis!

Thanks again to all of our players, sponsors, and spectators! Hope to see you all next week for Swivenhodge!
