Re: Return of the Weekend Write-in

Something totally unexpected happened in the story. I have NO idea where it is going. I was busy working and suddenly this idea pops in my head of what is happening next. It had all flowed along, have idea, write, write more, flowing along and then BAM something happened which I hadn't anticipated.

While reviewing these chapters, I'm going to discuss some of the characters I've met so far ... so spoilers ahead! So we encounter where the kid stops reading and we have a major cutting by Goldman for the 'Good Parts' version as he slices away sixty-six pages of Florinese history. I found t...

Favourite Characters in Fiction

The title of the topic about says it all. Who are your favourite characters in fiction? I will say that there are some people in books who I'd love to meet. Here. Maybe even spend some time with. Sometimes I wish they were real life enough that when I see someone who looks like a favourite character...

We are reading The Princess Bride right now -- and I found this something else (and what I found Amy is shrinking to make it to be within size limits) ... but in the meantime I found these! https://68.media.tumblr.com/8d36d4f4debab57c7cf5670d5106bd45/tumblr_inline_oo84eiC50Z1tp546r_540.jpg https://6...

Re: Giving a book another chance

Well. I just finished American Gods (by Neil Gaiman). I gave it another chance. I probably need to go write up a 'book report' on it, too. But I saw this topic and ... ah ha. Ages ago, okay, a year or so ago, I finally checked it out from the library. Again. I was going to read it! Oh, yes, I was. N...

Re: Do authors write stories, or do they write themselves?

Watching the posts from the HOLWriMo, and having read what many authors write about their writing style and where the stories come from -- I'm thinking that the stories and how they are written are as varied as there are stories. Why is this? Some authors refuse to write out the plots of the stories...

Re: Pantone Book Covers

Oooh, interesting idea. I guess my associations of colour are a little strange because I have synaesthesia (where sounds, words, letters and concepts are colours in my head). So my colour-book combinations tend to take into account the colours of the letters in the title, words I'm hearing or the v...

Re: The Princess Bride: Introduction & Chapter 1

I kept reading and forgot entirely to post in here! Ooops. Well, again I was flummoxed by the beginning. Somehow I have gotten used to stories being just stories. Not like that play of Shakespeares where some folks are watching a play and the play is about both the play and the folks who are watchin...

Re: Weekend Write-in

When I read your post, Sky, immediately into my head came a tune. I sort of somewhat remembered where it was from after running it through my head and then googled ... It's the melody from the movie Doctor Zhivago - Lara's Theme. I did a google search, for more information, because what I remembered...

I'm still in doubt whether I will be taking part in this or not. I've started writing it several months ago and then I went on a &qu...

Re: May - Internet Day

How had Internet changed my life? Well, first off, I had to learn to control my energy fields so I could turn on the computer. Yes, for ages I was virtually computer (and Internet) non-savvy because the computer wouldn't turn on. Someone else has to turn it on for me. (Anyone read the Dresden Files?...
