Re: Inkheart: Chapters 43-59

What a book. What a book! I am so glad it was recommended! I went to GoodReads about it and find that it is one of those books which either get 1-2 stars or 4-5 stars. It's not a middle-of-the-road book. So, gulping it down and being completely IN that world. Imagine a person can read people, items,...

Re: Inkheart: Chapters 26-42

. Mortola. She so totally isn't in the movie and I didn't know who or what she was but that she was a very unpleasant person and malevolent. Quite frankly, by the time I got to this section of the book, there was so much going on and I basically didn't want to stop reading to even do a weekl...

Re: Inkheart: Chapters 16-25

I agree with Tarma, I tend to think of them as alive and am often surprised when i find a book was written 30+ years ago and the author has passed. It was nice to find out what happened to Meggie's mother. I was saddened to hear about the man with glass though. I wonder when Mo mentioned about ...

Re: Inkheart: Chapters 16-25

I'm also curious, do we think the point about most people thinking of authors as dead or ancient is as true now? I don't know, for me, there's far more curiosity about writers these days and with social media and book festivals, it's far harder to forget that someone wrote the book ...

Polaris ... I miss my mountains ... thank you for the picture! I know I already posted a nice blurry picture of a bumble bee and flowers, but I also took this one (which isn't so blurry) and it's fairly close to where I live which is why I can live here just fine too. http://i1190.photobucket.com/al...

Re: Inkheart: Chapters 16-25

So yes, the book continues on in a way unlike the movie ... and I love it! The characters seem much more developed in the book -- the ability to read people and 'things' out of books is there, yes, but it's not the main thing, the focal point, as it seems to be in the movie. And the rest of this is ...

Re: Inkheart: Chapters 26-42

I know I'm posting a bit ahead of schedule, and haven't posted for the second section yet, but I happened to read this today and it, for some reason, threw me for a loop. Chapter 32 "Interesting," whispered Fenoglio as Basta drove into the parking lot. "Do you know, this village is ve...

Re: Recent Book Recommendations

I laughed when I read this, because one of those books Amy lists above -- I read it on her recommendation. The book? Ready Player One . I even did a book review here . I can recommend it to everyone (but cannot recommend it for Monthly Book Club reading because of some of the words and concepts in t...

Re: Inkheart: Chapters 1-15

Speaking of the quotes at the beginnings of chapters, I squeed to see the quote from our next book ( The Princess Bride ) at the start of Chapter 10. I absolutely love the appropriateness of each quote, too, for the chapters they start! And yes, I laughed at this in Chapter 12 - " These stories...

out of a book and into here .... graphic

We are currently reading Inkheart for our April Book Discussion and perhaps by now you have read how characters (and all kinds of things) are read out of books and into this world. Draw a picture of a person or creature or something which might have been read out of another book and brought into her...
