sadness, it's graduation and awards time

Even though I'm sad to not get any more homeworks for this term for this class, I am totally delighted to announce the names of those who earned Quills and Awards in the spring term of The Hobbit, From Tolkien to Jackson . Earning Quills are: Brayden Collins Emma Borg Professor Jenny Lupin Shiloh A...

Re: Howl's Moving Castle, Chapters 6-10

Just as I was starting to maybe sort of like Howl he starts behaving in a manner which is ... well ... boorish. Sophie is trying to get along! But that's great. In the second chapter of this section, though, something happens and, for some reason, maybe the way it is written, this is a ter...

Charms - Graduation and Awards

I always love it when people survive for the whole term and send in their Final Examinations and there is hardly any blood on them! That, to me, is success! Congratulations to Anna Snape Draco Riddle Vivien Adain for making it the whole way through Charms and earning a Quill -- and not succumbing to...

Re: Announcing HOL Version 5

No changes have been made on our part to the HOL Forum yet. Okay. Strange! I wonder what the latest Windows update did. :o Because I'm definitely now noticing changes. Thank you for your prompt response. :) edit: I went looking because it's a mystery to be solved. Evidently I had reset the zoom lev...

Re: Announcing HOL Version 5

This (the HOL Forum) looks different to me. Have you changed the font and spacing here on the HOL Forum, as part of the whole up-dating process? It's more legible, easy to read. Either that or my eyesight sharpened up a bunch! edit: I notice another difference -- it also seems to be a tad bit wider....

Re: April Prompt: Time After Time

Maria wondered what would have happened if she had turned left instead of right on that fateful day. She didn't wonder this very often but when she did, it always shook her. What if. The possibilities were of a magnitude which shook her whole beingness. One day she had a dream, a day dream. It was a...

Re: Virtual Reality Gaming - The OASIS

If it was set up like OASIS, yes, I'd definitely want to have that haptic suit -- but I'd want the rig that Og has, in Ready Player One . The rig would allow me to do things in the room which emulate what is happening in OASIS. I would also, again, want it to be as OASIS is set up, and the Sixers (a...

Re: Magic in the World

Oh, let me name the worlds of some of the books where there is magic (as described in the books/BEing magic)! (I've not moved from the chair, am typing as I visualize my book shelves.) What about the worlds (in no particular order and just naming the books if not the world) of: Mortal Instruments by...

Re: Howl's Moving Castle, Chapters 1-5

I had a difficult time getting into the story the first time I read it. I remember that distinctly. It seemed like the same old same old of fairy tales, of the mother dying and an acquired stepmother and a sister and then a stepsister added to the mix. Then the father dies and they are left without ...

Re: Deathly Hallows - Which one would you choose?

While I would like to say the Invisibility Cloak, I think it would be more true to say the Elder Wand. Why is this? It's because I think the Elder wand could act as a very good alert and responsive shield. I wouldn't need to use it as a weapon. After all, I have my Oceanspray and Cherry wood wands. ...
