Re: Book Review - The President is Missing

I finished reading The President is Missing this morning and rather enjoyed it. I tend to watch a lot of thrillers, some political, but haven't read one in quite some time. The collaboration between Bill Clinton and James Patterson intrigued me when I first heard about it. I had some issues with the...

Re: Flash Fiction

This week's items are: badge, postcard, map The detective rested his badge on the desk next to some discarded post. Rifling through, he discovered a vaguely familiar postcard. He took out a stack of scuffed postcards and spread them out. The backs together formed a map of where a decade-old case, st...

Re: Mass Effect

I finished playing Mass Effect 2 this morning, and I have to admit, while there were some parts I liked about it, overall I was a bit disappointed. It was refreshing that things weren't as black and white as they first seemed in the original game as regards Cerberus. Some of the gameplay changes too...

Naming Characters

When playing video games, do any of you have names that you typically use for your character(s)? I generally draw on some of my favourite books or series for inspiration. The last game I played where I got to name my character was Skyrim, and I borrowed Celaena from Sarah J. Maas's Throne of Glass b...

Re: Harry Potter Go

It's official! Portkey Games released a trailer earlier today for Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. While the trailer is purely promotional and doesn't give an indication of gameplay, I'm looking forward to seeing how it all pans out. I really like the premise behind it: the wizarding world is at risk of...

Re: What movie coming in out in 2018 are you most excited for?

Although it's only coming out in 2019, I'm really excited for Detective Pikachu . It's a live action film with Ryan Reynolds voicing the titular character. As a Pokemon fan, it'll be interesting to explore the Pokemon universe outside of what we've typically been exposed to in the anime series or th...

Re: Flash Fiction

This week's items are: telescope, dinosaur, castle For example: The newly off-duty sentry heard a yelp. He rushed up the castle battlements to where his comrade was standing with his mouth agape, pointing in the distance. The sentry grabbed the telescope and saw a hulking figure. Sure enough, the Ag...

Eternal: The Card Game

A friend of mine introduced me to Eternal, an online collectible card game, while I was recovering from surgery. Even a month down the line, I still try get a few games in each day, mostly to try earn prizes from the daily quests (more on that in a bit). There are five factions: Fire (Red), Justice ...

November Prompt: Fictional Feasts

Whether you've tucked in to the Welcoming Feast at Hogwarts's Great Hall or partaken in the Great Redwall Feast, you're bound to have come across some enticing foods. This month we're calling all fictional foodies (that sounded better in my head) and tasking you with illustrating a particularly inte...

Re: Flash Fiction

We'll be starting November off with these items: flower, letter, fear For example: The young woman's hands trembled as she opened the letter, fearing its contents. A pressed flower fell to the ground. A violet. She gave a small smile in spite of herself. He remembered. As she drank in each word, her...

Re: Mass Effect

After I finally managed to reach the coveted level 30, I was able to breeze through the remaining side quests. I then was able to focus on the remaining main quests, and doing so was bittersweet. I found those to be among my favourite, but I knew it signalled that the end of the game was coming. Vi...

Week 4 - Scenario

You are shown through an oak door and into a room, very much like the one you wandered into days ago. The final stage of the conference is some friendly competition in the form of training scenarios that should hopefully contribute towards the Institute's research. Are you ready? Below you’ll find y...

Week 3 - Scenario

You finally make it out of that room and back into the conference hall, only to be greeted by people rushing about, shouting loudly. You look around trying to find someone to ask about what is going on, when there's a momentary gap in crowd and you catch sight of a news presenter being broadcasted o...
