Re: Week 3 - Discussion: Abridged Books

Both Shiloh and Maxim did indeed remind me that in language courses abridges books are lifesavers. Imagine trying to read Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet in English if you have limited knowledge of the language. When you take another language your comprehension and speech, especially in the beginning...

You’re not completely clueless about Harry Potter romances, but there’s work to be done. Basically, you’re not at Gilderoy Lockhart levels just yet. But maybe that’s a good thing.

Well, I tried. But it was fun learning some new things.

For the Scarlet vs Shadow match on Sunday 2/18 1 AM HOL time, both Scarlet and Shadow have agreed to reschedule the match to Saturday 2/17 9 PM HOL Time. Since there is no referee, there is no need to check with one.

Re: Week 2 - Discussion: Do Audio books recreate the Magic of Communal Storytelling?

I agree with Resyarinna. Audiobooks aren’t recreating the art of communal storytelling (in my book communal storytelling means someone reading a book or telling a story to another person or group of people), but audiobooks are another form of it. Indeed, the technology is both very good as we can re...

Re: Week 2 - Discussion: Do Audio books recreate the Magic of Communal Storytelling?

I agree with Shiloh that some audiobooks are better than others, especially when read by different people. However, I have not come across a good book yet and the only audiobook I was able to finish listening too before my mind drifted elsewhere was a comedy book. But there are great books that are ...

I would personally love to own a Phoenix and use it as a means of magical transportation instead of Apparating or the Floo.

Re: Houses and Elements

I personally love fire. The way it flickers, the warmth it provides on a cold winter day. Fire makes food and gave warmth to our ancestors. Fire is sweet and warm. And yet, fire is also a devastating force unlike no other. It can rage for hours and not stop. It can destroy buildings, towns, and peop...

Re: What's your boggart?

As of now I can’t think of anything I fear. Yes, I don’t have a large fear of anything. I am not afraid of death, nor any animals. Maybe there’s an idea that I’m afraid of but I can’t think of anything right now. Yes, before important competitions or test I have the nervous fluttery feeling in my ch...

Re: Snow Days!

When there is a snow day I usually stay indoors. Although I love playing in the snow, and I especially love skiing, I should not be outside in the cold for long. Thus, on snow days i usually stay at home with my family. I especially love to curl up with a book, and I usually spend my snow days doing...

Re: School You Want to Visit?

Here, I would have to agree with Vanessa. I love that Mahoutokoro starts teaching wizards and witches at such a young age. I know Japan puts a big emphasis on education and knowledge which I am obsessed with. I often say that my occupation now is being a lifelong student. I love taking classes anywh...

Re: If you had a time machine, what time would you travel to?

I would travel into the future at 42 year increments. First of all, I wish to see how humanity will progress in the upcoming centuries (I’ll probably go around 1000 years into the future). Second of all, I want to see the gradual change and 42 years seems quite a small amount of time. Also it’s 42, ...

What Classes are you Taking?

Class sign ups have been up for about 4 days now, and some people *coughSkycough* have even started on doing some assignments!

So what classes have you signed up for and what have you been accepted into? If you are still thinking, what are your choices of classes?
