I am taking Confronting your Boggart, Occlumency, Societies in Ruin, The Hobbit, and Magic of Forensic Science. And I can tell you it was a hard choice to make, choosing between so many great classses. There were several more I wanted to take; Hopefully they'll be there again next term - or next yea...

Where do you find your Energy?

Summer is over and school is starting up again both here at HOL and in RL. And for those who no longer go to school in RL, many would have had a holiday over the summer, but have to return to work. And somehow we all manage. But it makes me wonder where other people find their energy for dealing wit...

Re: Deathly Hallows - Which one would you choose?

I'd go with the invisibility cloak. It's a great tool if you use it right. I would just be careful never to risk eavesdropping: Those that do never hear anything nice about themselves as I know from personal experience: I was once on a camp where people thought I was asleep and that the walls were m...

Pen names

Several authors throughout time have chosen to write under pen names. Sometimes they are completely different from their own name: Robert Galbraith springs to mind. And sometimes they simply seek to hide certain aspects of the author's name: J. K. Rowling choosing not to immediately reveal herself a...

Re: What Classes Would You Like To Have Taught?

I would love more mythology classes. Currently we only have the norse mythology one and I already took that. And I am very glad I managed to get greek mythology in last tern since it isn't on the roster this term. Arithmancy is another one I'd love to see, just simply because it's a classic Harry Po...

Re: Announcing HOL Version 5

This is gorgeous. The background actually reminds me a little of my phoneskin which I spent quite a lot of time picking. It's really a beautiful background. And "New Posts" has moved out of a hidden menue! This will make my life of checking HOL one click easier every time - Yay!

Names on HP Merch

I've recently been giving this some thought and upon talking with other people I've found out that opinions are split, so now I wanted to know what you all think. If you were to get some Harry Potter Merchandise of one or the other sort that could have a name on it, would you want you RL name or you...

Re: Re-reading

Oh Sky! You just reminded me! That's true. When taking audiobooks into account - and especially those you fall asleep too, I am sure it's actually more likely to be the Nightrunner series for me. And for me it's definitely a cost thing; I just don't have the chance to get as many audiobooks as I nee...

Re: Virtual Reality Gaming - The OASIS

I am not aware of any that exist other than the ones you already mentioned, but I would love to try a game that is fully immersive like you describe. It does have its pitfalls of course, but I can also see a lot of potential in it. If for instance you have to move in Reality to move in the game, it ...

Re-reading

Re-reading is a funny thing. Because usually it's a book we know very well that we keep coming back to. At least that's how it is for me. I don't want to re-read it because I forgot what it was about, quite the opposite: I want to re-read it because I remember very well and want to experience it aga...

Study tips

The end of term is coming very close indeed and most of us are likely scrambling to get those last minute assignments in. Many might even have muggle school deadlines coming up. So while it's still in fresh memory (and for those of us who are still struggling to make it in time!), I'd like to know w...
