Re: Siblings!

I am both the youngest and not the youngest. I grew up with one older brother, then shortly after I graduated high school my dad married a woman with two children and adopted them, so now I have two younger siblings in addition to an older brother. My older brother and I are only a year and a half a...

Re: What Book Are You Reading?

I'm currently re-reading Order of the Phoenix too! I do the same where about once a year I end up re-reading Harry Potter. I always take my time and read other books at the same time. Right now I've been keeping Order of the Phoenix at work as, interestingly, I actually seem to have more time to rea...

Re: Sabriel, Chapters 16-23

I was glad we finally got to meet Sabriel's father and see them interact together. Then we find out so shortly after that there is no going back, that Sabriel's father is dead despite all her effort. Yet despite that, we see Sabriel accept this fact with grace, followed by the bravery of her...

Re: Sabriel, Chapters 8-15

I found this next set of chapters really interesting. I was loving the book from the beginning, but these chapters added whole new depth and seriousness to the book. Everything seems to be getting a lot darker and more dangerous. I thought the situation with Mogget being freed was very interesting. ...

Re: Belongings with sentimental value

I haven't saved any old toys, but I do still have my nightlight. It has this neat stained glass like cover with a nice heavy base. I accidentally knocked it over as a kid and damaged it a bit, but it all still works. I keep it on my desk in my library. My husband still has an old stuffed musical tur...

Re: Favourite Genre?

I'm a huge fantasy fan. Almost all of my favorite books tend to be in the fantasy genre. I just love the idea of going to an all new world and having to learn the very basics about it. Science fiction is definitely my second favorite genre to read. Like a lot of others, I don't really tend to limit ...

Re: Sabriel, Prologue-chapter 7

This is my first time ever reading this book and I've immediately fallen in love with it. I really appreciate having such a strong female character as a lead, but at the same time I'm grateful that the book takes time to show she's still a young girl with a lot to learn. In the beginning Sabriel cam...

Re: Favorite Candy

I bet it'd be an interesting flavor combination if you did, haha! You know... I don't think I've ever had sour patch kids. I should try them. I've just always been a chocolate person so that's usually what I eat for candy.

Re: Favorite Candy

I love Hershey's Kisses. Peanut Butter Cups probably come second on my list of favorite candy. If I'm craving fruity I usually go for Starburst, but I don't usually crave fruity over chocolate.

Re: Patronus Quiz

I got an Eagle patronus. Not what I was expecting, but I like it, haha! Summarizing the internet.. Eagle people tend to "fly high" but also remain very grounded. Eagles also like to be close to creation, are risk-takers, intelligent, courageous, and healers. They also represent freedom. So...

Re: What Book Are You Reading?

I just finished The City of Mirrors by Justin Cronin. It was really good and I'm kind of sad I'm now done with the series. At work I'm finishing up The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson. The next book in line is The Dolphins of Pern by Anne McCaffrey and at home I'll be starting The Choice. Not sure...

Re: How Many Books Do You Read Per Year

Wow! That's pretty impressive. I've never really kept track of how much reading I do. I think I read maybe 2-3 books a month so that would come out to about 24-36 a year.

Re: What Is In A Name?

I love the name Elizabeth so I knew I wanted that to be the first name of my character. I also knew I wanted a kind of plain sounding name. I don't know why, but those names have always been my favorites. After that I just used a last name generator until I found a last name I liked. I kept having t...

Re: Your Favorite Games

I really enjoyed the Fable games as well! My favorite game though would have to be Okami on the PS2. I loved the artistic style of the graphics and the story was really neat. The sequel, Okamiden, is on the Nintendo DS. I've played through it once so far, but didn't love it. With Okami I felt like I...

Re: The Topic For Introductions!

Hello! I'm a Ravenclaw and my name is Elizabeth Mayes, but I usually go by Eliza or sometimes Ellie. I'm a Muggleborn so I was pretty surprised when I got my letter. I'm very excited to be here though! In RL, I'm 24 years old and on hiatus from college. Eventually I will be graduating with my Bachel...
