Re: Introductions - Fall 2018

I'm Kathren and I was born on August 20 which puts me close to the end of Leo (which ends the 22). I don't actually relate to Leo as much as I do Virgo. Part of that could be just how close I am to the switch along with the fact that I was actually born a couple weeks earlier than I was supposed to ...

Re: Reading With the Awards

The only time I remember reading books simply because of the awards was for Battle of the Books in high school. All of the books on the Need-to-Know list are award winners either at the local (statewide) level or national/international (Alex, Newberry, CS King, etc.). Other than that, if a book has ...

Will the web address stay the same for the main page? I tend to keep the site open whenever possible. Also do we have a potential date for when the change-over will happen?

Re: What movie coming in out in 2018 are you most excited for?

I was just making sure since there are two similarly titled movies coming out in a two year span (at least for the US/UK). That is one movie I still need to see since I didn't really see any movies this last year.

Re: What movie coming in out in 2018 are you most excited for?

I completely forgot about the Christopher Robin movie. I loved Winnie the Pooh when I was younger. I'm curious Amy, did you mean Christopher Robin and not Goodbye Christopher Robin? From what I can tell (from a quick google search) Goodbye Christopher Robin came out last year.

Re: What movie coming in out in 2018 are you most excited for?

I hate to say it, but I'm more worried than excited about the new Grinch movie. So far I don't think any of the new movies have been able to live up to the original animated movies (for Grinch it would be the 1966 version). One movie that I am excited for this year is A Wrinkle in Time. I remember w...

Re: Movie Adaptations of Books

While I will agree that most adaptations are not as good as the books they are based on, one that I think is actually better is Matilda . Some of this may just be bias as I do believe that I saw the movie first, but sometimes the actors chosen can have a big part in why a movie might be loved more o...

Re: What’s your Myers-Briggs personality type??

I took the quiz almost 2 years ago (seems like a lot longer than that) for school. I am INTJ which matches one of my favorite characters (Draco). I'd say it fits me pretty well. (I remember it being a minority in that school group as well since most of the group was extroverted) (Edit: Am I a loner ...

Re: Patronus Quiz

You only need yourself in this matter. Others will only confuse the issue. ~Cat I got a tonkinese cat which is a cross of a siamese and a burmese cats. A little weird since cats actually don't seem to like me much. My little sister's cat has actually tried to bite me on occasion. I also had a cat th...

Re: Published Fanfiction

There are a few that came to mind right away. Different Authors: Looking Glass Wars and sequels by Frank Beddor (listed as heavily influenced by Alice in Wonderland ) and Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson as well as the first sequel (written as a prequel to Peter and Wendy ...

Re: Library Books versus Buying Books

I don't go to the library very often. But when I do, I always try to get recommendations from the librarians on new books to read. While some have not been that great, most of them turn out to be some of my favorites. Since most of the time, at least one of the librarians has read the book (especial...

Re: Abandoned Books

While I dislike abandoning books, I tend to read multiple books at a time. So it will sometimes be so long in between readings that I will have to restart it. I will sometimes go back to those, if I hadn't, I wouldn't be in this fandom today. ^_^ However, if this happens multiple times with the same...

Re: Sorting at Ilvermorny

I guess I will be the first one here to claim the wonderful Pukwudgie house.

By the way, the colors are the same as for Thunderbirds, so I don't think it has anything to do with Hogwarts houses.

Re: Favorite Real Life Class

I've had a lot of really fun classes ever since elementary school. I'm going to start there since I have a lot of good memories of then. Fourth grade (I was 10 for non-Americans) was one of my favorite years as a kid. This teacher not only got me into writing (something that I still enjoy today), bu...

Re: Ctrl + V

Backstory is needed before the words. The last thing that I ctrl + c on my laptop was when I was putting together lyric slides for chapel service at college. (a new person is assigned every week and I happened to be the one for this last week). I tend to look at a website to figure out the words and...

Is there a way to bypass paying to register on mIRC? I can't use it right now because it says my evaluation copy has ended and it took away the continue button.

Re: Week 9 - Bring Back our... Bladder-Guardians?

One change that I would make would be the bladder itself. I would instead use a water balloon so that your defender would get wet and we wouldn't have to kill an animal in order to play.

I would be a potions master. Science is and always has been my favorite subject in school, and I feel like it would be no different in the wizarding world.

Re: Ebooks vs Print

I have to agree, etextbooks are the best thing ever. The only problem is that sometimes they decide to only rent it to you for a semester. I know that from experience. Organic chemistry is not fun when you don't have a book. If I'm reading a novel, I would much rather have a physical copy, but since...
