Re: RIP Ollivander

That is so sad, especially as he was so talented. I didn't know him as Ollivander, but I did know him as the War Doctor. So many talented people have died this year and it's only the end of January. Ollivander has a son? If so then he'd totally take over the shop. Or maybe Ollivander has an apprenti...

Do authors write stories, or do they write themselves?

I've just finished a book called "My Heart & Other Black Holes", by Jasmine Warga. It was a great story (if you ignored the bad editing: poor sentence structure, sunlight glinting off shiny objects when it was well after 5pm in winter, that sort of thing), right up until 9 days left. I was left bitt...

Re: January Word Crawl: Chamber of Secrets

I doubled the word count for my own comfort, longer is easier better! The Life and Times of an Unusual Animagus When I found out that Animagus training was offered as a class, I immediately signed up. First, it's an amazing piece of ancient magic, why wouldn't I jump at the chance to study it by doi...

Re: Favourite Genres?

I have to agree with Maxim on Fantasy being easy. It's the easiest but it's not the one I enjoy the most. I write a lot, always have since I was tiny, but never to the quality I'd like. I'm always trying to extend myself, writing more, writing less, writing better, writing more efficiently, making r...

Blurb of Mad in St Mungo's , by GIlderoy Lockhart. We all know greatness is not born, it is made out of hardship. When you think of great wizards, you probably think of Gilderoy Lockhart, Order of Merlin Third Class, Dark Force Defense League honorary member, and five-time winner of Witch Weekly's M...

Re: December Word Crawl: Philosopher's Stone

Not exact to the word counts, mostly over but not enough to be double, I think it's passable. Once upon a time there was a beautiful and brave three-headed dog called Fluffy. Fluffy was the guardian of the most important door in the world, which is only fitting for the descendant of the great Cerebu...

Re: Week Four Shenanigan Activity - Cheer For Your Team

While I love Arianna's, I have a back-up. I've finally found another four lines! I couldn't think of four that would be good enough when I first wrote it. P-U-R-P-L-E We're the team you wanna be! P-I-N-and-K You're the ones that walk away! Give up, take a seat We're the ones you'll never beat! Any w...

Re: Belongings with sentimental value

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who keeps their childhood toys around. For me it's Pooh bear, who was given to me when I was born and has suffered greatly under my affection. I'm told he once had plush fur, but he certainly doesn't now! I have a special place in my room for him to sit, and I'll kee...

Re: What's Your Dream Job In The Wizarding World?

Like February and Anisia, I think I'd like to be a Healer. Maybe in research or a psychiatry/psychology-based Healer? I think it would be cool to cure people like Dumbledore's sister Ariana.
Then again, a spell inventor would be cool too...

Re: New Years Resolutions!

I don't do New Year's Resolutions, but I do usually have a vague goal. Time management is one of my (probably completely unattainable) goals this year, also. I'm trying to do more RL stuff too, which will make things harder! My main goal is to be eligible for entry into University by the end of this...

Re: Prompt 1: Word List

I'm first! Yay! I'm never first! I briefly considered a story about a book that eats an owl, but decided against it. Here's what I've com up with instead: The owl stood on his towering perch of books, looking down over the expansive library that was his kingdom. He was old, so old, older than the gr...

I chose Meredith Malkins for several reasons. The first is my real name starts with an "m". The second is that Meredith is my favourite name at the moment! And the third reason is because I read the Handbook, and I didn't want my name to be refused because someone else had it. I reckoned that Malkin...
