Re: Unfogging the Quidditch Pitch

might as well make one risky guess...
*Which team will score more goals? - both teams will score the same amount
*How many different players will get a hit? - 9
*Will a Seeker land on a Bludger before the first break? - yes

Re: Quidditch Pickups... the 2017-18 Edition

Today featured the longest, most exciting pickup session of the season! We began by putting on our cauldrons for Creaothceann: first with the regular set and then with the special, random Cascade set. Then it was time to separate into teams... the deciding factor was how people reacted to bludgers. ...

Re: Early Bird or Night Owl?

Late, definitely! I like the quote "It is a sin to go to bed the same day that you wake up" (though I haven't been able to find the source of the quote on a quick Google search). That said, I remember my Muggle college days of staying up until 6 or 7 AM on weeknights to do homework... and ...

Re: Quidditch Pickups... the 2017-18 Edition

It was a cold, bright afternoon in January - which was actually perfect for the first Quidditch pickups of 2018! We began "normally": with a game of Xany on the regular set, and then formed teams for the usual explosive games on the pitch. This time, we decided to mix two previous methods ...

Re: December – Pretend to Be a Time Traveler Day

My first thought was "I'll go back in time to change my past" but then I realized how risky that was. Instead I decided to go 100 years into the future, to December 30, 2117. I went to the library and started reading (electronically) the major newspapers over the past 100 years, taking car...

Re: Quidditch Pickups... the 2017-18 Edition

The last pickups of 2017 were the most exciting and popular of the year, with plenty of new faces returning! We began with a quick round of Creaothceann, but then we threw off our cauldrons in favor of the notorious exploding Quod. Team selection was done in honor of the first person to ever write a...

Re: Quidditch Pickups... the 2017-18 Edition

This night provided some very exciting Quidditch play! We started with a few rounds of Xany: with both the regular question set and our "Cascade" question set. Then, as has become customary, it was time to choose teams for Quodpot: this time we chose magical creatures to determine teams. E...

Re: Nobel Prizes

I would create a Nobel Prize in mathematics. Believe it or not, there is none. Although there are many other categories, I think I would create a mathematics category first and then create more. Math has a very interesting story as to why it has no Nobel Prize! (It's probably false, but I choose to...

Re: Quidditch Pickups... the 2017-18 Edition

Today was another fun round of pickups, with turnout equally balanced between three houses! We began by getting out our cauldrons for two rounds of Creaothceann: first with the regular question set and then with our special "Cascade" set. Then it came time for exploding Quods: our team sel...
