Week 4-Reading Cryptogram

HOL offers not only a ton of interesting classes and activities, but also the opportunity to collect awards and beans. After earning awards, they sit in your fact sheet on your profile and help make it shiny! Awards are offered to top students in classes, for participating in activities, for being a...

Re: Back to Hogwarts

I really loved Pottermore's tour! I just wish I could have actually gone inside the castle. I haven't managed to find all of the hotspots yet, so I'll continue to look around and see what more I can find. I really like how some of them taught me just a little more about the wizarding world that I di...

Included is my laptop, a couple notebooks, some textbooks, the notes I'm currently working on, some miscellaneous writing utensils, and a water bottle. It's important to stay hydrated even while doing homework!

Re: September – Story

My first day of school this year was quite eventful to say the least. First of all, it was the day of the solar eclipse and we happened to be in an area where we would be able to see the total solar eclipse, so one of my classes was actually cancelled so that we could see it. Around lunch time we we...

Re: Week 1-Ask Me...

I think I'd rather have the Marauder's Map because, as Professor Dumbledore states, there are other ways to make oneself invisible. Also, I'm not particularly one for spying, but in case I ever need to hide the Marauder's Map sure would help out a bunch.

Re: Week 2-Classes

I've somehow managed to narrow down the list to five that I'm really interested in taking this term. • Advanced Care of Magical Creatures • Marvellous Musical Theatre - Act 1 • Occlumency • Steampunk 101 • Survival It was really difficult narrowing things down, but I tried to arrange my course load ...

Methods of Storytelling

I've just finished up Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff, and the story progressed via various documents such as interviews, files, emails, etc. rather than chapters and a continuous writing style. I've also just started Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel which tells the story in a similar fa...

Re: Week 1-What Brings you Here?

Hello all! I'm Aurelia West, a Slytherin fourth year and Promising Student. I first came across HOL while searching for Harry Potter online schools to get involved in and HOL seemed like the one that had the most to offer and the best community. After completing my first year back in 2011-2012, I to...

Hmm considering how busy my last couple days have been, all I've really been up to on the computer is tracking beans for the Off to School activity so:

Re: Book Review: Orange

Here's my response on Orange: The Complete Collection, Volume 2: I thought that the series tied itself up nicely, however in the end it definitely felt a little rushed. I still think it was an important story to be told, and would certainly recommend it to people, but the message was a bit too limit...

Re: HOL Appreciation Month - GOLD SPIRIT AWARD

I'm really excited for this upcoming year, so here are some goals I hope to accomplish!

1.) Earn over 3500 points
2.) Earn the full 300 points in at least 6 classes
3.) Submit to at least two different house newspapers
4.) Generally stay active and participating in activities this year!

Re: Book Reading Challenges

Update: There's a really cool reading challenge set to begin on August 13th. It's called The Reading Quest and is based around a video game structure. Participants are urged to choose one of four classes which will then issue them different challenges on books to read, though you can continue along ...
