Welcome and information

Hello everyone who has decided to join History of Magic for this term. I wanted to let you know that I started approving students for the class. There is an important change that has been made to the class that hasn't made it onto the website, but soon will. The class is now required to have 2 assig...

Re: Gryffindor Paw Print Contest

Since the poll is for Gryff's only we'd like to take this opportunity to mention the section of 'Honorable Mentions' that we found, that while still amazing, just didn't beat out the initial voting process. Once all voting is done, we will also let everyone in HOL know here, which one's made it to t...

Re: mIRC won't let me in

If you're not willing to wait it out (after all, it's a program not owned by HOL) for the the continue button to appear, you can always use CGI that links from the main HOL site. However, this is only myself, but I did register my IRC. It was $10 and I can have it registered on up to five computers....

Re: Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them Movie

I'll probably actually see this one, though maybe not until it gets to the cheap theaters. I don't really enjoy watching HP movies...at all, they annoy me, but since the Beasts book wasn't a 'story' I think I'll enjoy seeing how it is played out.

So I've been saying for years and years that I'd let my kid sign up the summer after she turned 11. So don't be surprised when there's an IP identical to mine signing up. All I know is her first name will be "Aya". And probably not for another 2 weeks since she'll be in Canada-land visiting relative...

There are a number of IRC clients for the Mac that you can try out that work very much like mIRC, such as: Colloquy, LimeChat, Textual, Babbel, Ircle or Snak. That was taken from mIRCs website. go to the handbook on HOL's main page. I know there is a link to in there under the irc section. Otherwise...

Most profs get antsy if you send in homework before the start of term. (Like myself.) Because it is quite possible that between now and September 1st, we might still be making small adjustments to the lessons and homework. You may want to check with your professors first to see if they allow early h...

If you get 5 quills, that is just 5 quills. You need 2 to graduate. So if you get 5 quills, you'll still only be a second year at the start of the next HOL year. Even if you get more quills than necessary you only get to advance one year at a time, and it takes the whole year. So when HOL opens agai...

It probably is one of my favorite series. I bought the first four books a long time ago. Read them once and put them off to the side. I went back a year later and reread them, and that time I became hooked. I promptly went out and bought what was available at the time (up to Dead Beat) and read thos...

You can certainly request it from the professor. However, it is at their discretion, not yours. Some will say yes, some will say no. You signed up for a full year class, so you're dedicated to it. But, talk to the prof and see if they will let you out.

Iruel, you are a doll for following the rules. <3 I myself, enjoy the genre that you don't like, since I can comprehend your muddled talk. One sees an enemies point of view, even if they don't agree with it. *g* For me though, any story that is very long, very well-written, with all the good grammar...

If it has mature content of ANY kind, don't mention it even by name on the forum. Kids still know how to google.

My name is just... my name. lol It's an adaptation of my RL name (because I have an awesome name), for the moment. Missa is an abbreviated form of my name, and the only one I use on the net. I have been using it since I first got a computer when I was 14. It is also my author name on the ML's and or...
